Shannon Scate's Unparalleled Art

There are few things as powerful and meaningful as art and It's always a treat for us to speak with artists who use our stamps to help them find success. We got a chance to sit down and chat with the artist, founder, and visionary of Unparalleled Art Shannon Scates, and talk about her business, her art, and how she has used our stamps to help her succeed!

Unparalleled Art LLC was created to represent my belief that we all are walking talking art and we all have something unique and of value to express. My expression is the beauty of black culture and black women. My art is a visual celebration, which is why I love to use vibrant colors and designs. I also love to incorporate stories of women alongside my artwork to provide more context and facilitate understanding, empathy, transparency…all things I believe lead to love. That’s what it’s ultimately about for me.  

I am inspired by so many things. It can be something I am going through personally, a conversation with loved ones, some good music, nature, works by other artists – the list goes on. The most important thing is just being true to me and my purpose for creating. That “purpose” goes through subtle transformations here and there as I grow, but the underlying motive is to love.

My goal of healing through art – myself and others – stems from the work I have put in, in my own life, and the changes I have observed in myself. I want my art to encourage people to reflect, to open up, to have the hard conversations, and to seek their own healing because I see what doing those things have done for me. I still have more healing to do, but my life would look very different if I didn’t make the effort. I probably wouldn’t even be painting. When you feel like you have no purpose how do you walk in it?  

For my logo design, I worked with another very awesome creative, Jendayi of Jendayi Asha Creative, and she helped me get my branding together. She’s amazing.

I plan on using my logo stamps on the back of my limited-edition prints, on my future certificates of authenticity (still creating those), and on my packaging. I love the way the rubber stamps look and I think it adds an extra touch of “one-of-a-kind”-ness. I also love to do things by hand so the stamps suit my style!
