Step-by-Step Construction Themed Card

1. Prepare your base card

Before jumping in, gather all of your material so they're accessible to you. Create your base card by attaching a craft paper to a white card stock. We went with a light blue and attached it to a 5" x 7" horizontal card. Place your base card now onto a craft mat or paper to protect your surface.

2. Stamp your designs

For this card we are using the yield sign, traffic cones, dirt pile, dump truck, and front-end plow; however, you can mix and match according to your liking. Using clear stamps is easy, simply peel your stamp from it backing sheet and place onto an acrylic stamp block. The photopolymer is slightly tacky, so your stamp can easily stick and be removed from your stamp block.

Once you have your stamp design chosen and attached to your stamp block, grab your pigment ink of choice. Stamp the design into the ink and onto its Cricut cutouts. If you don't have a Cricut, no worries! You can simply cut around the design using a pair of scissors to achieve the same look. Repeat this with all your selected designs.

3. Creating the hills

Now onto the hills! We wanted a gradient look, so we chose shades of brown, but you can create your hills using any color or pattern craft paper. Start ripping your craft paper into sections you think would make the best hills. Remember, there is no right or wrong!

Tip: Before gluing anything down, place your hills onto your card to see what you like and what needs to be adjusted

4. Color your designs

Time for some coloring fun! With your colored markers, color your stamped designs to bring them to life. Start coloring with your base color and then use a slightly darker shade to add depth. Try shading in from the edges of your stamped images. You can also take it up a notch by using a gelly roll white pen to add some flair while adding shading and lines. Lastly, add texture to your dirt with some diagonal lines, crosshatch, or speckles. Feel free to practice on scrap paper to experiment with different textures until you find the style you like.

5. Assemble the card

Lastly, place your elements down to determine the design before gluing them down. Once you are happy with the layout, glue your designs onto the card and you're all set to go! You've just constructed a thoughtful card for someone special.

5. Add a personalized message

Make this card unique with a personalized message. You can handwrite it or use our alphabet stamp set -either way, it's sure to let them know just how much you care.

Now this special card is all ready to plow! So see you later, excavator! Don't forget to check out more blogs for crafting fun. Don't forget to use #STAMPWITHUS and share what you make with us on social media!
