DIY: "Please Take 2" Sign for a Halloween Candy Bowl

Halloween is truly a unique holiday. How many other holidays do you get to go knocking on a stranger's door for some free candy? But once your trick-or-treating days are behind you, you may quickly realize you can't wait at the door all night for tick-or-treaters!

One easy solution is to leave the candy bowl outside and let the kids help themselves. But it's important to them know how much candy to take (if you don't, you will quickly find yourself with an empty bowl) and that is where this "Please Take 2 Pieces" sign comes into play!

To make this cute "Please Take 2" sign, all you need are the items below and follow these simple steps!

DIY "Please Take 2" Sign: Materials

  • Envelopes
  • Orange Construction Paper
  • "Please Take 2" Design - (Free Downloadable Below)
  • Black Pigment Ink
  • Scissors
  • Bowl
  • Candy Candy Candy

Step 1 - Download Designs

The first thing you need to do is pick your stamp design and order your custom stamp. Make sure to do this at least a week before Halloween to allow time for it to be delivered.

Below are two downloadable designs that you are more than welcome to use for your sign, just hit the download button and upload it to a custom stamp and you will be good to go!

Step 2 - Stamp the Paper:

This next step is a difficult one...just kidding, it's about as easy as it gets! All you need to do is ink the stamp and then press it down on the paper to leave a perfect impression.

Step 3 - Cut and Fold Paper:

After you have stamped the paper you need to then cut the sign out of the full sheet. Make sure you give yourself enough space around the impression and then cut a long rectangle out of the paper (keeping the impression on one end).

Make sure that paper is cut with an even amount of space on both sides so that when folded (hamburger style) in the middle, both sides are even with each other, and the impression takes up one side, and the other is blank.

You should be able to form a triangle with the paper, and it should be able to stand on its own (it should be very similar to the student name cards we made a while back)

Step 4 - Put it All Together

Once you have finished the card, all you need to do is fill the bowl with candy, leave it on your doorstep and then prop the sign up on top. You can also feel free to tape the sign to the bowl itself to keep it out of the way of the candy.

How you want to display it is up to you but feel free to use our example as an inspiration!

Once you follow those few steps, you will be good to go and leave your candy bowl out there unattended. Make sure to check on the bowl every once in a while to refill it with more candy!
