How to Make a Magical Pegasus Card:

1. Gather your materials

To get started, gather all of your materials so you have them accessible. If you have a Cricut machine, cut your stamp dies using the Magical Days Ahead Cricut file.

In addition, we have created the base design for our card by folding white cardstock in half and gluing strips of solid paper colors vertically on the card to resemble a rainbow.

2. Stamp your images

If you are using Cricut cuts, stamp your images onto the dies. If you don't have a Cricut machine, place your white card stock onto a craft mat or paper to protect your surface. Stamp all the designs you want to use on the sheet of white card stock. Be sure to space out the stamped impressions so that you can cut around them.

Using clear stamps is easy, simply peel your stamp from it backing sheet and place it onto an acrylic stamp block. The photopolymer is slightly tacky, so your stamp can easily stick and be removed from your stamp block.

Second, ink your stamp with the ink of your choice. In this project, we are using Ranger Archival inks in black and a variety of pink and red colors.

2. Create the heart-shaped shaker window

Cut out a solid heart shape and a thin heart-shaped frame (the center is cut out with just a border to represent the heart) with either your Cricut or scissors. This will be the background to the castle and will serve as your shaker window.

Using a blending tool, start blending two or three ink colors to fill in the solid heart shape. Start with the lightest color and then blend in darker colors. Practice blending on scrap paper, especially if you are not familiar with the blending tool. This is an optional step, but at this time, you can color your heart frame if you choose.

Tip:  Don't over-blend! Over-blending occurs when there is too much friction over the paper. The paper will start to deteriorate, leaving behind some debris. Over-blending happens if there is too much pressure while blending or blendning over the same area. Keep your pressure light and no need to oversaturate an area with ink.

3. Color stamp images

Now it's time to start adding color to our stamped images! Using alcohol art markers, or any medium of your choice, color your images as your creativity flows.

Just remember to start with your lightest colors first. Then add darker colors for shading and detail. Keep your pressure light, and if you are working with art markers, short strokes, and daubing work best for blending.

4. Assemble the shaker frame

Now, it's time to make the shaker part of the card! We have broken down this part of the project further into easy-to-follow steps so you can follow along:

  1. Glue your heart frame/border and cellophane together and set aside.
  2. Assemble and attach stamped images on top of the color-blended heart.
  3. Take the glue runner and add a layer of glue onto the cellophane side of the heart frame. Glue around the OUTSIDE edge of the frame, so glue won't appear on the inside of the shaker window area.
  4. Add shaker elements such as sequins or confetti. Do this by sprinkling them on top of the blended heart and castle.
  5. Place the glue side of the cellophane heart frame down, on top of the blended heart and castle. Firmly press around the edges to seal.
  6. Cut extra cellophane to remove.

5. Assemble the card

Using adhesive foam dots (optional) attach the heart shaker window to the center of your card. Then attach your card greeting or sentiment. Then, attach the Pegasus to the outside of the heart-shaped shaker window. Finally, add additional embellishments like adhesive gems for extra flair.
